Adding an Account
By ZohaibYou can add an account two ways: connect a bank automatically, or create one manually and fill in the details yourself. Neither is more "correct" than the other, it depends on whether your bank is supported and whether you want ongoing automatic sync.
Connecting a bank
If your bank is supported, connecting it via Plaid automatically creates the account and starts pulling in balances and transactions, no manual data entry required. See Importing & Bank Sync for the full walkthrough of how linking, syncing, and unlinking work.
Adding a manual account
- Click Add Account from the Accounts page, or use Quick Add in the sidebar.
- Choose an account type: Cash, Bank, Loan, Receivable, or Real Estate.
- Name the account and enter its current balance, this becomes your starting point going forward.
- Save. If your bank later turns out to be supported, you can turn on Auto Sync for that same account instead of creating a duplicate.
Choosing between manual and connected
Manual accounts give you full control and work for anything, cash, a bank that isn't supported, or an account you'd rather not connect. Connected accounts save you the ongoing work of entering transactions yourself, at the cost of depending on the sync staying healthy.
Tip: Free plan accounts are capped at 3 active accounts. Upgrading removes that limit if you need to track more.
