Net Income & Totals
By ZohaibAt the bottom of the budget table, three summary rows roll everything up: Total Income, Total Expenses, and Net Income, so you don't have to add up every category yourself.
How they're calculated
- Total Income: the sum of every income category's actual and budgeted amounts for that month.
- Total Expenses: the same, summed across every expense category.
- Net Income: Total Income minus Total Expenses, both for what was budgeted and for what actually happened.
Reading the percentage
Each totals row gets its own percentage and color, using the same scale as individual categories, so you can tell at a glance whether your overall month came in on plan even if a few individual categories didn't.
Tip: A category running over budget doesn't automatically mean your month is in trouble, check the Net Income row itself, since savings elsewhere might have absorbed it.
