    Connecting a Bank via Plaid

    ZohaibBy Zohaib

The fastest way to get transactions into Fyscal is to connect your bank directly. Once it's linked, you never have to type in another transaction from that account by hand again.

    Before you start

Only Bank and Credit Card accounts can be linked this way, other account types like Cash, Real Estate, or Receivable don't offer it, since there's no bank connection to make for them. Bank sync is also a Starter or Pro plan feature, it isn't available on the Free plan.

    Starting the connection

There are two places to kick this off:

    1. From the Link Bank button on the Accounts or Transactions page, then pick which existing Fyscal account should receive the synced data.
    2. Or, while creating a new account, choose Connect via Plaid instead of Manual Account. Fyscal creates the account first, then launches Plaid immediately, skipping the extra picker step.

    The Plaid window

Clicking through opens Plaid's own secure, hosted popup. You'll search for your bank, log in with your normal bank credentials inside that popup, choose which of the bank's accounts to share, and confirm. Fyscal itself never sees or handles your bank password at any point in this process.

    While it connects

You'll see a short series of loading messages, roughly: connection secured, pulling in your accounts, collecting recent activity, sorting everything neatly, and almost done, lasting about ten seconds in total before you land back in Fyscal.

Tip: If your bank returns more than one account, only the ones matching your chosen Fyscal account's type and currency get attached. Anything that doesn't match is skipped, and Fyscal tells you why, usually a type or currency mismatch, so nothing is silently ignored.
